Preparing Students for New Writing Assessments

Many of today's high-stakes tests require students to write essays and justify their responses by including or referencing primary source documents that support their statements. Join Dr. Michelle Cheasty-Christ as she explores how to expose students to primary source documents, incorporate quotes in writing, and cite those sources. In addition to sharing various primary source sites, she will discuss how to evaluate sources to determine if they are scholarly sources. Michelle will also discuss how to get students involved with peer reviews to ensure information is documented and cited appropriately. You will also learn how to develop performance tasks that students can use to practice writing for the new writing assessments.
