PD for Students: A Base Camp Model for Training Students to Use Devices
Overview
Ensuring that an entire class or grade level has a certain baseline of skills for a particular device is no easy feat, but it can be made much easier with a Base Camp. Base Camps that focus on a specific device, such as iPads or Chromebooks, expedite the training process and help to ensure that all students have the appropriate skills to be successful with the technology they are using. Join Lisa Johnson, @TechChef4u, as she highlights the steps involved in holding a Base Camp, including permissions, communications, support, logistics, supply, and setup. While the strategies and examples Lisa shares involve iPads, the strategies, logistics, and structures employed are applicable to a multitude of devices and initiatives, such as Chromebooks or a project-based learning base camp.
