I liked the use of a code or special system to let the adult know of a need!
I am amazed at the things people do to cause self harm, injury, or death.
Consequences for exaggeration, manipulation, lying and setting boundaries important.
I will read the novel 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Interesting.
