Workshop Description:
Story time is not just a fun activity, it is essential for children's language development and literacy skills. Additionally, participants will explore strategies to motivate the families of their young learners to create rich story time experiences at home.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe how educators can utilize their voice, expressions, and nonverbal communication to elevate the stories they read aloud.
  • Identify apps and web tools that will enhance story time with multimedia and effects.
  • Discover resources for animating the books shared during story time, such as integrating puppets and Total Physical Response (TPR) to make the experience more engaging and interactive for young learners.
  • Explore strategies for motivating the families of young learners to read stories at home.

  • Special Technology Instructions:
    Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

    Assessment:
    Participants will participate in a collaborative digital storytelling activity to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
