Students today read daily on their digital devices, but they often skim through material without questioning or fact-checking. Join Shelly Sanchez Terrell for this hands-on, interactive workshop as she shares strategies to help learners critically evaluate digital reading materials, beyond just skimming. Participants will explore a variety of free resources and ideas to help your students annotate, evaluate, research, and question the material they read. You will also walk away with a toolkit of activities that will encourage adolescents and teens to read with a critical eye and support deeper reading.

Special Technology Instructions:
Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.
Assessment:
Participants will participate in a collaborative annotation and curation activity and complete an exit ticket to show their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
