Workshop Description:
Frequent checks for understanding provide teachers with the opportunity to improve student learning outcomes based on their responses throughout the teaching and learning process. Join Naomi Harm for this hands-on, interactive workshop as she shares strategies for educator questioning that will spark meaningful conversations to assess students’ depth of knowledge throughout the “Her-Story Global Collaboration Project.” In addition, Naomi will share a wealth of added resources that focus on women in STEM leadership that will enrich the learning experience and provide opportunities for future coursework. Participants will also receive a copy of Naomi’s list of creative assessments and reflection questions to check for student understanding that can be modified for any grade level or subject area.
Learning Objectives:
Improve educator questioning techniques to engage more students in meaningful and collaborative conversations to assess depth of knowledge and understanding. Discover creative ways to meet the needs of diverse learners through assessment choice so students can represent their best selves and showcase their learning.
Special Technology Instructions:
Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.
Assessment:
Participants will upload two student creative assessment reflections to Google Classroom to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
