Workshop Description:
The power of good storytelling is about you, the teacher, joyfully and deliberately modeling your love for reading in the classroom. Join Naomi Harm for this hands-on, interactive workshop as she shares best practices for delivering modeled read aloud sessions that will inspire and engage your students as we celebrate National Women's History Month. In addition, Naomi will discuss how to extend these read aloud sessions with active conversations that will allow students to explore the discoveries and inventions by women leaders in the world of STEM. Participants will also receive a copy of Naomi’s templates to create their own “Her-Story Global Collaboration Project” activities to differentiate instruction and personalize learning for diverse learners in the classroom.
Learning Objectives:
Explore books that highlight innovative women throughout history that can be used for oral read aloud activities in the classroom. Discover how active, collaborative conversations allow students to understand the accomplishments of women leaders.
Special Technology Instructions:
Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

Participants will complete one of the four visual literacy creation activities to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
