Literacy Projects for Adolescent English Learners: Comic Creation
This is session two of six for the series titled Literacy Projects for Adolescent English Learners Evaluate a variety of free, education-friendly comic creation tools appropriate for adolescent English Learners in grades 4-12
NOTE: While we recommend that you attend all sessions of the workshop series to meet the learning objectives, each workshop can be attended as a standalone. Full members will also have access to view the recordings on demand and earn up to six continuing education credits.
Comics offer a wide range of opportunities for English Learners because they are engaging and encourage them to explore vocabulary, summarize information, and contextualize information they have learned in a creative way. Join Shelly Terrell as she shares how to use free, education-friendly comic creation tools to inspire student creativity, including scaffolds, supports, and strategies to help students complete their projects. Participants will also have an opportunity to access done-for-you templates to create their own comics project that they can immediately use with their students.

Create a content-specific comics project for English Learners that enhances the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing
Special Technology Instructions: Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12ís Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.
Assessment: Participants will create a content-specific comics project to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
