Adobe Illustrator for Beginners (Part 2)

This is session two of two for the workshop series titled Adobe Illustrator for Beginners

NOTE: While we recommend that you attend all sessions of the workshop series to meet the learning objectives, each workshop can be attended as a standalone. Full members will also have access to view the recordings on demand and earn up to two continuing education credits

Workshop Description:
If you are new to Adobe Illustrator, this workshop will introduce you to the tools you need to create amazing graphics, starting with using and making brushes. Join Kim Munoz as she shares how to create custom shapes with the pen and shapebuilder tool, apply new drawing tools, and incorporate text in a variety of ways. Participants will also have an opportunity to create their own designs that will assist them in teaching their students how to effectively use Adobe Illustrator.

Learning Objectives:

Explain how to navigate the shapebuilder tool to create custom shapes.

Discover how to use the pen tool to design illustrations and how it can be edited with the direct selection tool.

Explore how to use the brush tool panel to create free-form paths that can have a hand-drawn feel.

Create text in two forms, regular and on a custom, so the text flows along the edge of the path.

Special Technology Instructions: Participants will need access to a computer or laptop, a non-school, personal Google account, and Adobe Illustrator Software (they offer a free trial for 7 days). SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

Assessment: Participants will complete an exit ticket to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning .
