This is session five of six for the series titled The Ultimate Tips - Tricks and Technology Teaching Hacks!

NOTE: While we recommend that you attend all sessions of the workshop series to meet the learning objectives, each workshop can be attended as a standalone. Full members will also have access to view the recordings on-demand and earn up to six continuing education credits.

Workshop Description:
Research shows that using games in teaching can help increase student participation, foster social and emotional learning, and motivate students to take risks. Join Nomi Harm as she shares game-based instructional strategies to drive learner engagement in your classroom, especially for students who may struggle to focus or find their niche in learning. Participants will also have an opportunity to create their own personalized learning experience that they can immediately use with their students.

Learning Objectives:
  • Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.

  • Create learning opportunities that challenge students to use a design process and computational thinking to innovate and solve problems.

  • Special technology instructions: Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12ís Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

Assessment: Participants will complete an inclusive opening and an optimistic closing activity as well as share their completed digital projects to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
