Workshop Description:
Let's put on a new educational designer hat and learn how to teach like a park ranger! Join Naomi Harm as she models four innovative instructional strategies that will transform your teaching to meet your students where they are and actively engage them in their learning. Participants will also have an opportunity to create their own personalized learning experience that they can immediately use with their students.

Learning Objectives:
  • Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.

  • Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.

  • Special technology instructions: Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

Assessment: Participants will complete an inclusive opening and an optimistic closing activity as well as share their completed digital projects to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.

Great presenter! I love watching Naomi's presentations due to the attractive slides and visuals, great ideas, and personal application approach to the ideas. The dead time is great for on-demand learners to stop, reflect, and jot down notes.

Great information. Thank you! Editing out the "dead" air time for us on-demand learners would make it even better.

    Good info.
Format doesn’t fit well for on-demand.
Lots of “dead” time while live was completing reflections.

    Interesting information.

The information could have been shared in half the time. I'll use some of the support materials, but as an art teacher, I'm already embedding motion, emotion, and choice, as well as the "why" into my daily interactions with my students.

The reason for choosing to watch this webinar was out of curiosity in wanting to understand the meaning of the title. The curiosity was to see the connection to my prior knowledge to just watch was being taught. The second time, was because it did not register that I watched it. The away this time was that my thinking compliment the Park Ranger idea because for years my approach to understanding was from a scientific view, the same WHY? Ms. Harm pointed out that a lot of educators focus on the how and what, not the why. In retrospect, there were challenging moments in school because of the different approaches throughout the years, but a smile still shine because I understand the difference. Compliments goes out to all the Educated Park Rangers.
