Overview

Are you looking for a better understanding of the elementary school standards within the Next Generation Science Standards, NGSS? Join Paula Naugle as she takes a deeper look at the NGSS standards for the elementary grades. She will explore how the three dimensions of science learning (practices, core ideas, and crosscutting concepts) will help your students learn science content within the domains of physical science, life science, earth and space science, and engineering design. Paula will explain how the framework of the NGSS standards will help your students acquire science knowledge so that they are prepared for middle school and beyond. For each domain, she will provide a review of the performance expectations, science, and engineering practices, disciplinary core ideas, and crosscutting concepts, along with sample activities for each.

Lots of resources were shared.

Gives some weblinks for ideas on implementing NGSS in your classroom, but not enough on best practices and how to make sure to include SEP, CCC, and DCIs in lessons. Too often teachers just focus on DCIs... I would have liked more focus on the necessity of teaching SEP and CCCs as well as HOW to best do this.
