I really loved the straw and the rocket project that teaches force of motion! And it might fuel students interests in space and other celestial topics. The music/art creation idea is also awesome. I know students really do enjoy making nature art as well, designing real or imaginary animals with leaf rubbings! Thank you so much!

Such fun ideas! Thanks!

Refreshing to hear ideas from a librarian that can be implemented in a library. I, personally, shy away from incorporating art that requires paint or water, but I do enjoy relating activities to stories. Several years ago I purchased (for my elementary school library) a set of books on Charities Started by Children, one of which is "Paper Beads from Africa." I taught the children how to make paper beads using Youtube videos, and read the story. Worked with all grade levels.

These are great ideas. I'm fearful I wouldn't get through them in one 40 minute class, since my kids are only k-2.
