Overview

From destructive natural disasters to senseless school shootings, the need to help students understand, make sense of, and deal with tragedy is becoming increasingly common. It can be especially difficult for many elementary school teachers, who may be struggling with questions such as: "What information do we share," "How do I talk to my students about events that I also feel emotional about," and "What is my role, and how do I best interface with parents' wishes around these tough topics?" Join Dr. Michelle Anthony as she discusses how educators can best support young learners when tragedy strikes. She will provide suggestions and strategies for discussing these difficult topics with children in grades K-6.
