Transitioning to College: Building a Technology Toolkit

Having, and knowing how to use, the correct technology tools can make the transition to higher education a bit easier. In this fast paced session, Dr. Luis Perez will discuss and demonstrate a number of age-appropriate iPad apps that incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) supports such as text to speech, word prediction, and multimedia presentation capabilities. With these apps, students can begin to build a comprehensive toolkit that will allow them to effectively take notes, manage their academic schedules, organize their writing, access the information in textbooks, and more. While these supports were created with students who have learning challenges in mind, all students can benefit from an understanding of built-in universal design features that facilitate access to information and learning.
