Overview

To say that many of our students like to take selfies is probably an understatement. Why not take students' passion for taking selfies and turn it into a learning opportunity that helps them humanize their digital learning experience? Join Shelly Sanchez Terrell as she introduces you to selfie and avatar activities that will help students reflect on their digital footprints and identities. She will explore how you can use these selfie and avatar activities to help students redefine themselves more positively and confidently, helping them to improve their overall concept of self.

I enjoyed several of the tools shown in this webinar. I wish we had some more visual examples included, though.

This idea could be used for various projects. I do think the students would enjoy the process, however, the project would need to have specific outlined details for the students to focus on the learning objectives rather than just having fun taking the pictures. Also, specifics for appropriate vs inappropriate pics would need stated. I think a narrative for each selfie would help focus on the concept being portrayed. All in all, the teacher would have to have a lot of forethought to prevent mishaps.
