Overview

Session Description:
As school funding options continue to dwindle, how can teachers provide students with the resources necessary to help students learn? Teachers often turn to their own pockets to buy important classroom supplies and instructional materials for students. According to recent studies, the average teacher spends approximately $750 of their own money to fund their classroom needs each year. Join Matt Bergman as he discusses several strategies you can use to help save money and survive in the cash-strapped classroom. You will also walk away with a list of websites and additional resources to help you raise funds for your classroom.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe strategies that teachers can use to save money and survive in the cash-strapped classroom.

  • List a variety of websites and other resources that can help teachers raise funds for the classroom.

  • Assessment: Participants will join a collaborative backchannel chat and discuss ideas for classroom funding to demonstrate their understanding of the session objectives and reflect on their learning.

I loved the way you used the dish drainer to organize and store the IPADS, we have been literally stressing over where and how to store our Chromebooks since the beginning of the year!! And would have never thought to re-use laundry caps as pencil holders...profound.

Great suggestions for finding community partners. Home Depot and Lowes are super supporters of education.

He gave me so many ideas, that I couldn't write fast enough. It is kind of bittersweet to have to do so much to help other people's children. However, we have to do what we must. I can't wait to try some of the suggestions. I currently volunteer at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati and the money that I would earn goes toward my classroom.
