About Me: |
This is my seventh year as Digital Literacy Specialist for the Mount Vernon School District. I love the challenge of helping teachers infuse technology into student learning. In my position, I am training teachers in conventional workshops, online tutorials and modeling in the classroom. I spend time each week working directly with students and teachers. In my 24 years of teaching, I have had the blessing to teach every grade level from pre-K to 6th grade in places as varied as the Navajo Nation, Texas, Ecuador, Kenya, and Indonesia. I am a proud Texan who loves living and working in beautiful Washington. I hold a Masters Degree in Education with an English as a Second Language and a Social Studies Endorsement. I am a lifelong learner who loves trying out new techniques and technology. I consider myself a bit of a technogeek. Travel is a passion for me. I have traveled extensively on 6 continents and have lived and worked on 4. I am on the National Leadership Council for the Discovery Educator Network and a proud Google Certified Teacher. I am a member of a team creating state assessments for technology for the state of Washington. I serve as a volunteer regional educator resource for Heifer International. I participate in the Flickr 365 Day Photo Challenge . My husband and I enjoy walking our giant mutt Holden, going on roadtrips, camping, gardening and renovating our 100+ year old home in Mount Vernon.
