About Me: I've been a teacher for as long as I can remember. My dolls and stuffed animals were my first students at my school in my basement. Student's with social/emotional/behavioral tendencies are the students I LOVE to work with. I've been given a gift and am proud to say I realized it early on and have changed kids lives(according to data and most importantly from parents and the kids themselves.) I'm lucky to have a learning and hearing disability myself as well as one daughter with a learning disability and a son with significant social/emotional issue. This has made me a better and more empathic teacher. Don't say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree around me... you will get an earful. Unless we walk in our parent's shoes don't judge. I'm glad to be out of public schools where that mentality is so rampant. I grew up and was educated in Massachusetts and was lucky enough to get my Master's from Simmons College in Boston. I lived my whole life in the same small town there until 5 years ago when life changed quickly-I sold the house I grew up in and my husband and I moved to FL where I now work in a wonderful private school that educates all students on the Autism Spectrum.
