Melissa Mann

Melissa Mann is a special education teacher with the Madison County School System. She has taught both self-contained and collaborative students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. Melissa is dually certified in Elementary Education and Special Education. She also has a Master's in School Counseling and is a certified school counselor. Melissa has presented for the past three years at Alabama's state technology conference and at various local conferences.

If you weren't in education, what do you think you'd be doing and why?

If I were not in education, I'd probably be involved somewhere with a non-profit or ministry. I love serving.

When you were a kid, you wanted to be a ______? Why?

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher. I enjoyed being the teacher's helper growing up and always helping with filing papers and working on bulletin boards.

What are your favorite books and authors?

Right now I'm reading The Noticer by Andy Andrews. His books are full of practical wisdom, leadership insight, and are just an easy read.

I've always wanted to visit:

I've always wanted to visit New York and Hawaii. Those are still on my to-do list.

What's the best piece of advice someone ever gave you?

The best piece of advice I've been given, Be yourself and listen to your heart.
