Leigh Anne Kraemer-Naser

Leigh Anne is a former Middle School and Early Childhood educator with experience in multi-age and traditional classrooms. She obtained a BA in Elementary Education from Mercyhurst University, as well as an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University, where she also served an adjunct lecturer specializing in portfolio development. Leigh Anne was the Director of Curriculum and Programming for The Ophelia Project, where she authored original curriculum on school climate and bullying prevention.

Currently, Leigh Anne is the owner and director of Curriculum Solution Center, which provides quality professional development and curriculum consultation services for PreK-12 schools. She also is the Pennsylvania Advocate Director for Bully Police USA, a Professional Development Specialist for the Council for Professional Recognition, and a Professional Development Facilitator for Northwest Evaluation Association. Leigh Anne resides in Erie, PA with her husband and two daughters.

If you weren't in education, what do you think you'd be doing and why?

I would own a cupcakery and creative bakery. I think it’s a hobby I could go pro with one day.

When you were a kid, you wanted to be a ______? Why?

President of the United States. I think this was because I liked bossing people around.

What's your idea of happiness?

Quiet house, good book, good coffee, warm feet.

Twitter changed my life because:

It taught me to be more succinct.

What are your favorite books and authors?

J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, James Patterson, Mario Puzo, Pat Conroy, J.K. Rowling, Eion Colfer, Rick Riodan

The teacher who had the biggest impact on me and why:

Mr. Fazio – he inspired so many to push themselves beyond their limits to be amazing. Or maybe Sr. Rosaire because she didn’t believe in me and I’m still trying to prove her wrong!

If you were dictator and had total control, tomorrow education would:

Small classes, differentiated instruction, safe social climate, and supportive mentors for all children

If you could live anywhere other than where you are, it would be:

Honestly, I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather call home. Tons of places I’d love to visit, but only Western Pennsylvania will be my home.

The biggest problem with K-12 education is:

The over-emphasis on standardized testing.

Do you have a motto you live by?

Be the change you wish to see in the world. (Ghandi)

I've always wanted to visit:

Greece and Rome -the history teacher in me just wants to soak it in!

What are your most treasured possessions?

My children.

If you never had to worry about making money, what would you do?

Tour the world with my family and blog the entire experience.

What kind of kid were you in high school?

Cheerleader, captain of the forensics team, marching band vice-president, and so much more - I was involved in everything!

What's the best piece of advice someone ever gave you?

Never listen to your mother-in-law. Haha, just kidding although nothing else comes to mind at the moment.
