How schools and districts plan for and respond to potential safety threats, emergencies, and crisis situations can be crucial to preventing a situation or in determining the outcome of a situation. This toolkit contains webinars that discuss how to plan for and react to a variety of situations that may put students or staff at risk. Discover how to plan and train for an emergency, as well as how to develop and refine school crisis plans, emergency guidelines, and training so that your school is better prepared. Learn how to assess and eliminate potential safety risks, threats, and vulnerable areas to improve campus security. And in the event of a crisis, hear how to plan and respond so that faculty and staff react consistently, quickly, and with the least amount of confusion and panic. You will also explore options for communicating effectively with staff, parents, and community during and following a crisis. In addition you will hear explanations for why certain youths become violent and some potential reasons why many of them fall through the cracks of our school systems. Suggestions will be offered for identifying and supporting potentially difficult and violent youths.
