The teachers at my school received their iPads this week and so excited. Now that they have had time to explore the iPad they are ready for some apps. They are looking to me for help. Any suggestions on what apps have worked in your schools? (We are a Pre-k to grade 8 school.)

Good for you!! Ipads are great in the classroom! The first thing I did was get some nice covers that didn't cost too much! You don't have to get the fancy, hard covers. Just make sure you are monitoring the students. We only have five Ipads. I found an article that helped me a lot. It is called "Less Than a Class Set" - by Kristin Redington Bennett. It has helped me out a lot. Also, SimpleK12 has tons of great webinars to watch to give you some ideas. Good luck!!

The Ipads are such a useful tool for any classroom. I have never seen a more useful resource in the classroom!!!!

I received iPads to use with my students last year, and it has been wonderful! I have never paid for an app, yet I have found many educational and useful apps for my classroom. I have them sorted in folders so that they are easy to locate. I will just give you a few of my favorites from each category.

We also are just beginning with iPads in the classroom. We have found a calculator app Desmos that we will be using. Our entire school is using Notability for notes. Other than that, each department is searching for meaningful apps. There are a lot of games, and distractions out there but we are interested in our students performing at their highest level and don't want to use it as just an element for "fun". It's hard finding helpful teaching apps. So far and I have spent around 40 hours playing with apps, I haven't found any app that explains material better than I do.
