Hello all,
I'm struggling to find a balance in my classroom for parent contacts and effective discipline. (No, I am not mean to any students, and I do not have favorites). I began my teaching career 7 years ago, and during that time I have taught every single grade k-12 in a variety of subjects including: 6th-8th ELA, 5th Science and Social Studies, 2nd Grade all subjects, 4th grade ELA and social studies, public speaking, and ACT prep. It is very hard to transition between these age groups, and I'm needing advice on how to engage parents in their student's learning, as well as effective discipline techniques for kindergarten students. Our school does not allow public behavior charts, and I've tried class DoJo with mixed results. The students respond, but parents do not engage with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
