The topic of this post is to find articles about education that can create conversation through the articles that we post in this forum. I hope that all of you get into the conversation.

Today, I found this article.

I would like to know your opinion...

Does texting mean the death of good writing skills? John McWhorter posits that there’s much more to texting linguistically, culturally than it seems, and it’s all good news.

I have several topics and I hope someone start the conversation. I am a believer that if students do YOGA earlier in the morning of recess for shorter time there will be more benefits in the classroom. Read this article and share your opinion:

As a PE teacher, the kids are so excited to come to my class! They want me to talk less, & they move more! I hear the classroom teachers tell me, that when their kids come from PE, they are much more motivated. Makes me feel good!

Arlene, I totally agree. When I was working in the middle school. I shared many research papers to have yoga in the morning, or exercise or dancing before we start classes. I totally believe that movement helps. I do my lessons and I incorporate as much movement as possible.

I was reading this post about where schools need to draw the line between responsibilities of schools, teachers and parents. I would like to know what it is your opinion?

It seems a bit harsh to me. While we might agree that some skills should be taught at home, I don't think we can expect all parents to have those skills. If we leave all this to parents who don't have the skills, students will grow up with gaps and/or worse - fall through the gaps.

I would rather see a poster of how we can work together to make sure students grow up with the skills they need. Some parents may not even know they're not providing these essential skills to their children. :-(
