The counselor at the high school should have information for juniors and seniors looking for scholarships. Besides that, you can go to the closest junior college or 4-year college. Many offer scholarships for their schools. Is the student involved in any particular organizations or activities? Groups often offer scholarships for members. You can also look into scholarships offered by the student's parents jobs or employers. Some companies offer scholarships for their employees' children. Depending on the state, you might find statewide scholarships through the Dept of Education. For example, Wyoming offers the Hathaway Scholarship to in-state seniors who meet certain requirements.

Zinch.com, Fastweb.com, and Scholarships.com are sites that post multiple scholarships all in one place.

You have to do a little research, but some are very specific. They have one for students who have a least 1/4 Native American ancestry.

They have some for students planning to go into a church related vocation. They have some for women going into science, etc.

A student told me about a site called "Raise Me" today. I've seen some back and forth commentary on it, but with your own research, maybe it's something worthwhile to look at.
