The states that have approved the CCS, have each approved their own version of the standards. There is a difference from State to State. Does this defeat the purpose of Common Core Standards?

My understanding is that a state ca only change the document up to about 10%...which can still make quite a difference, but I think that the overall structure of the standards will still remain in all participating states.

Some parents are very disappointed with the common core as they feel it is not very challenging academically. Thus some schools are offering a curriculum that far exceeds the common core.
