I taught Romeo and Juliet to my 5th graders and they did amazing things with it. They did awesome projects to show their understanding of the era and the story. I gave them a menu of things they could choose from. Some rewrote the story to read to Kinders, some made a costume book explaining why/who would wear them, some created the Globe Theater, etc. Thank you this was Awesome!
