School Safety: Recognize and Assess Potential Threats
An important goal of creating a safe school climate is recognizing and assessing the level of potential threats and, if at all possible, preventing acts of violence before they occur. Many acts of school violence by students are planned in advance and the behavior of these students is often observable or known by other students. In this webinar, join Brent Maguire as he discusses how schools can help recognize, assess, and deal with potential safety threats.
As part of this discussion, Brent will cover 6 principles of threat assessment, along with basic threat assessment steps that schools should take. He will also discuss how to form a threat assessment team within your school and who should be involved on that team. In addition, Brent will provide a summary of 11 key questions used by the Secret Service to determine a level of threat, and show how you can apply them at your school.
