Q & A with Shannon Miller

If you weren't in education, what do you think you'd be doing and why?

I would be in Africa working with children and young people...making a difference in their lives.  It has always been very important to me to make an impact on others - helping them, making them feel good about themselves, giving them what they don't have.  Also, I would be somewhere creating something, a new school, new library, art somewhere.

What's your idea of happiness?

My idea of happiness is being able to be yourself with ones who love you, to be heard and understood, to be able to "just be" and love the little things that surround you in life.

The teacher who had the biggest impact on me and why:

The teacher who had the biggest impact on me was... Ms. D, my art teacher.  She was young, right out of college and she was my mentor, teacher and friend.  She encouraged me to embrace my talent for art and follow my passion.  She heard what I was always trying to say with my art and with my voice.

If you could live anywhere other than where you are, it would be:

If I could live anywhere... I would love to live somewhere I could look out my window and see mountains, water and lots and lots of sky.
