Week one: Write down at least two good things each of your students did during the week. Contact each and every parent and let them know how much you enjoyed having their child in your class and share specifically the good things they did.

Don't let yourself get overwhelmed when setting up your classroom, just find one small task to do at a time and eventually it will all come together.

Don't worry about having a picture perfect Pinterest style classroom for "Meet the Teacher Day" (the day before school begins). Work on truly connecting with your students and families that day. Beginning the year with a positive parent/teacher relationship will help your year to run more smoothly, not what decorations you put up that first day!

First take a deep breath and tell your self it's ok to ask for help. Ask questions, be prepared that things will not always go the way you plan and have fun with the kids.
