I'm wading into the homework debate. I've found lots of articles on the Finnish school system and their no homework policy. Does anyone have any additional resources, or information about schools, districts that are saying no to homework? What are your views on the homework debate?

I agree, giving homework is difficult at times. At my school district, it is hard to get the work back from the students..

I believe it too! I am in Peru right now, even though is winter, I am having a great time. As always take a time earlier in the morning to check Simple K12 and learn and share here. I am glad you are back my friend. I miss your post.

I believe that homework should be an interesting and involving task rather than a burdensome. I read from a dissertation in uk that children do not really learn anything from their work. It is because they are mostly distracted and want to do something entertaining while away from school.

I think as long as it is timely, relative and applicable, and students are prepared and understand what the assignment, then homework can help students to understand a lesson and master concepts that you are teaching. It also contributes to a student's responsibility and organizational skills, which help students become better prepared for college or the workplace.
